This is a great time to join the Council and be part of its transformation. Our objectives are to deliver sustainable growth whilst protecting our natural and historic assets and we need talented and ambitious Planners like you to help us achieve this.

Planning is a key function of Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council and there are exciting opportunities for growth in our main town centre and other key areas, all this means our Borough is really transforming at pace. The Council delivers local services of approximately £84 million a year to 130,000 residents. The borough comprises of 70% Green Belt and almost 27% Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) with a diverse range of towns, villages and countryside.

During 2022, the Council restructured its Planning Service with a new Management Team to meet the challenges of providing beautiful and well designed homes and communities whilst protecting the environment and delivering an effective Planning Service.

One of the areas of focus during 2022 was our new Local Plan which went out to consultation late autumn 2022 and we launched a consultation on our new Corporate Strategy which has Planning at its heart.

Our Planning Enforcement Services have renewed focus to ensure planning quality is maintained and action is prioritised where serious harm arises to residents and the environment.  We have also implemented more efficient ways of working and have invested in a new IT system which will help to deliver the service more effectively.
