WORKING MAIN

Working at The Queen Elizabeth Academy

At The Queen Elizabeth Academy we pride ourselves on a genuine care, passion and desire to help our pupils achieve. As soon as you enter our brand new school building you get the feel that this is a place where students have a real yearning to learn, something evidenced as you walk around the school and see attentive, well behaved and focused children in all classrooms.

Our members of staff are instilled with the ability to empathise with the lives of all our students, and as such can ensure that each and every one of them can reach their potential with the right guidance and teaching. As a smaller school, there is a real sense of a family feel that encompasses everything that we do, and we have a real pride in our students continuing achievements.

Having moved in to our excellent new building at the start of November, we now have state of the art facilities to assist with our students learning. We are always looking to be innovative and forward thinking as a school, one way we demonstrate this is by our ground breaking cloud based STEM curriculum. Our students take part in online work, allowing them to access information anywhere, and giving them the latest equipment (3D printers, lasers and computer systems) to design and develop anything they can imagine.

As a school we are very focused on ensuring our members of staff have the best training and support possible, and as such we offer PiXL training, ITP/OTP, focused and structured succession planning and give staff the opportunity to be mentors to other members of staff. The Queen Elizabeth Academy are also part of the Polesworth Alliance which means we are a schools direct training school, this offers a number of opportunities to develop mentoring and training with our trainee teachers.

We are a school that really look to develop their staff, and will help support additional study, 2 members of staff have recently secured partly funded masters degrees, with a senior member of staff awaiting results.

Our most recent set of exam results were a continuation of the success the school has had over the last few years. Our students continued to be above national average, with a Progress 8 score of +0.35 and an Attainment 8 score of 48.8 points. In English and Maths 75% of our students achieved grade 4 or higher, well above the 63% national average. Our “Never less than best” mind-set is a key focus for our students, and is promoted as a way of raising the aspirations of all year groups; this in turn is going to push our continued success in GCSE exam results.
