Welcome

Welcome

Thank you for your interest in The Heights Academy.

This is an exciting and unique opportunity! Being at the beginning of the journey of a new school is not something that presents itself very often.

Pupils attending The Heights Academy will come from across the Solihull authority and have an Education and Health Care Plan with a primary diagnosis of Autism and associated SEMH.

In our endeavour to meet the wide ranging educational and social needs of our pupils, we will provide an appropriate, aspirational curriculum, which encompasses and extends the National Curriculum. We will use a trauma informed approach to delivery with an additional timetable therapeutic content. The Heights Academy pupils will require the very best staff, the most cutting edge and creative pedagogy, fair and consistent role models, a relevant and focused curriculum designed and delivered by staff who are understanding and have high expectations.

We are seeking highly inspirational practitioners with a breadth and diversity of experience who can expertly inspire and educate our pupils with a variety of learning needs, stretching them to achieve their very best possible outcomes. I am sure you agree that this is what our pupils deserve.

We are excited that we will move into a brand new school building, currently in the construction process, and this will be purpose built to meet the needs of our pupils.

It is essential that you are:

  • Able to demonstrate real capacity to work in a setting supporting children with Autism
  • Able to work to a high standard and be receptive to developmental feedback
  • A driven and inspiring practitioner who leads the way in terms of innovation and thinking for yourself
  • Happiest when contributing to creating a collaborative environment in which pupils and staff thrive
  • Resilient, supportive, kind, aspirational

In return you will enjoy:

  • Working with a brilliant team
  • Exceptional Support from Forward Education Trust
  • Commitment to creating work life balance
  • Excellent remuneration package and benefits
  • Opportunity to continue your professional development journey

If you feel that The Heights Academy may be the right place for you, we hope you will consider applying for the post.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs Nicola Redhead

about

About the School

THE HEIGHTS, SOLIHULL

Due to open in September 2023, The Heights Academy is a redevelopment of the former Bosworth Infant and Junior School off Auckland Drive, Solihull in the West Midlands. The Department for Education have appointed Tilbury Douglas to complete the construction of a new SEND school, which will come into the control of Forward Education Trust upon opening. It will accommodate up to 116 pupils, aged 7 to 16, in order to meet a shortage of places for junior and secondary age students in the Borough and surrounding area. The provision is focused towards children with a diagnosis of complex autism with SEMH.

The new school will be designed and built to inspire new ways of teaching, focused on providing high quality education. It will provide pupils with a variety of accommodation to support the counselling, sensory, therapy and one-to-one support rooms. The new school building will have a contemporary feel over two storeys.
