The Engineering Team

The Engineering Projects team is part of the wider Facilities and Infrastructure team who sit within Crick Operations.

The team currently consists of its Head of Engineering Projects, a Project Analyst and five Project Managers, increasing to seven once the two vacant roles are filled.

The team manages all capital building projects from conception to operational handover. (We) are responsible for leading, developing and delivering solutions for significant projects relating to building infrastructure, engineering systems, space management, moves, and refurbishment of laboratories, offices, and other facilities within the Crick. Within our scope we also manage and deliver our building lifecycle programme. This programme reviews the operational and maintainable standard of the building assets, whilst ensuring we are maximising the life of these assets and continually reviewing any impact on the suppliers support of them. We design tailored solutions for the configuration of labs and offices at the Crick (and specific high end scientific equipment), interfacing with the building systems to ensure that Science is fully supported.

As recognised in the Crick’s strategy, the Institute’s research performance relies on a positive and supportive culture across our operations teams. The Engineering Projects team is no exception. The team maintains a high level of support and commitment, working collaboratively with Science and operational colleagues and developing our skills, knowledge and experience in the process. Staff feel supported in their career development and are committed to helping the Crick succeed.

The Crick was recently rated as an ‘Outstanding Workplace for 2022’ by People Insight.
