Your New School
We are currently working with this sector, leading setting to support them in the recruitment of learning mentors to work within the school environment to ensure the young people are accessing learning and making progress.
This specialist independent school provides bespoke education and residential care for children aged 4-19 who have autism and additional and complex needs. The children are taught in groups of no more than six and each child will work, as a minimum, with a one-to-one learning mentor.
The school are passionate about their pupils and their staff progressing, providing ongoing CPD and opportunities for all staff to progress in their career.

Your New Role
In your new role, you will be supporting children and young people with complex and profound needs on a 1:1, 2:1 and 3:1 basis in the school setting. You will be your child’s main point of contact throughout the school day, supporting during lesson and break times, and acting as an advocate or voice when required as some young people will be non-verbal. You will support the young people in the classroom by effectively identifying triggers and ensuring a safe environment if behaviours are to escalate, removing your young person from an over-stimulating environment to give them time to calm down. Other duties will include, but may not be limited to personal care, behaviour management, emotional support, classroom management, and feeding.
The school needs committed, caring and reliable staff to provide these vulnerable students with the consistency, encouragement and motivation needed for them to engage in learning.
In order to be successful in this role:

You will need:
  • GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent)
  • Experience working with children or young people
  • SEN Experience
  • The ability to work as a team member
  • Enhanced DBS or willingness to get one.
