Continuing Professional Development and Learning
We aim to bring out the best in you as well as in our students and we understand the importance of quality CPDL. Stoke Park offers a range of development opportunities, with both internal and external providers for staff at different stages in their career.
Coaching Programme
We are fortunate at Stoke Park that we have a whole school coaching programme that supports staff to be the best they can be. It is a non-judgemental programme that runs throughout the year giving staff the opportunity to further develop areas of their own practice and take some risks in their teaching with the support of a colleague.
The programme has been designed to increase the impact of staff development on student learning and achievement. Watching one another teach is extremely valuable and often the best CPD we can get. Staff will have 6 different coaches throughout the year of varying experience.
CPD Pathways
Staff follow identified pathways and receive training to support and develop their practice. Sessions, often an hour in length, are delivered in-house and also by external education consultants. There is also the opportunity to participate in Action Research projects linked to school priorities.
Teaching and Learning Briefings
Teaching and learning briefings are an opportunity for us to deliver further CPD or to encourage staff to discuss pedagogy in department or year teams with their colleagues. These briefings are an opportunity to share good practice and new ideas. Learning Lunches The Learning Lunches focus on different aspects of teaching and learning and are an opportunity for staff to develop their own skills. The lunches enable staff to share ideas and good practice, and provide an opportunity to develop leadership skills. External CPD
Stoke Park as a school in The Futures Trust and member of the President Kennedy School Teaching School Alliance has strong partnerships with other secondary schools in Coventry, Birmingham and Warwickshire, which facilitate collaboration, the sharing of best practice and support including leadership programmes, middle leader programmes and network meetings.
