Our mission
Guided by Christ. Inspired to Service. Aspiring for Excellence

St Thomas More is a good school (Ofsted 2022) committed to high standards of growth and professional development. The school is popular – always oversubscribed beyond our admission limit – and well respected in the local community. We are a successful school with a large sixth form located near Willenhall, with easy access to the M6 motorway network. We are seeking to appoint an outstanding Teacher of Religious Education to teach KS3 and 4, with the possibility of KS5. We are seeking a practising Catholic able to support and uphold the Catholic life of the school.

The RE Department at St Thomas More Catholic School consists of an aspirational team of colleagues who are experts in their field. The spiritual, pastoral, social and academic needs of the children in our care is at the centre of all we do. A member of the local RE Cluster, we engage and collaborate on a variety of levels with local Catholic Primary and Secondary schools in a range of activities and enjoy solid and continuously improving links with our local parishes.

Our recent CSI (February 2026) saw school awarded 2 (Good overall) for Catholic Life & Mission, Religious Education and Collective Worship, with a 1 (Outstanding) awarded within Catholic Life & Mission for the quality of provision provided.

Visiting inspectors said: “St Thomas More is an authentic Catholic community, where everyone’s voices are heard and valued. The effectiveness of the Catholic Life and Mission, with Catholic social teaching at its core, is due to strong collaboration between staff, students, governors, parish priests and parents….Students appreciate that ‘RE teachers help us to broaden our minds and understand the deeper meaning of life….Behaviour is good, and students enjoy Religious Education lessons. Books are well presented showing creativity and a variety of tasks”

Within the wider school community, the RE Department remains firmly at the centre in ensuring that, in partnership with SLT and the Headteacher, the Catholic Life & Mission of our Catholic community is ever present, ever visible and ever developing.

The ideal candidate will share our vision to raise standards and make a significant contribution to providing the best possible education for the children in our school.

In return our school can offer you a welcoming and inclusive environment, with a culture of openness and transparency. We value highly the wellbeing of all our staff and offer a number of benefits to support this.

With the wellbeing of our colleagues at the centre of our thinking, our Governing Body has given their support to an innovative approach to the structure of the working week. As of September 2026, all teaching colleagues, at all levels, will be afforded the opportunity to work to a Nine Day Fortnight. This exciting development, supportive of colleagues’ wellbeing, will see those who opt in have one day per fortnight (at school discretion and based on curriculum need) to use at their discretion at home for non-school related purposes.

As a school, and firmly based on research elsewhere, we believe this will enthuse, enhance and invigorate effective planning, classroom delivery, student engagement and the general wellbeing of all within our school community, staff and students alike.

As the successful candidate, you will also benefit from support, mentoring and development tailored to you, training linked to NPQML and NPQSL and further CPD supported by the Diocese and local providers. Colleagues flourish at St Thomas More Catholic School, and we offer fantastic career advancement for teachers at all levels. Our school is a very special and unique place. Students are friendly, welcoming, enthusiastic and eager to learn. Staff are caring, supportive and dedicated to finding the true potential in every one of our students. If you have a passion for RE and a commitment to ensuring every student achieves their very best, we want to hear from you!
