About us

About us

Sandwell is the third largest metropolitan borough in the West Midlands. Sandwell is made up of six towns - Oldbury, Rowley Regis, Smethwick, Tipton, Wednesbury and West Bromwich.

Sandwell borders Birmingham, Dudley, Walsall and Wolverhampton. We are seven minutes by rail to Birmingham New Street and we have strong links across the region, to London and globally via Birmingham Airport.

The borough has excellent access to the national motorway network with five junctions feeding into the M5 and M6 motorways serving the South West, South East and North West regions of the UK. Sandwell also benefits from a mainline train station and the Midland Metro.

It’s where we call home and where we’re proud to belong - where we choose to bring up our families, where we feel safe and cared for, enjoying good health, rewarding work, feeling connected and valued in our neighbourhoods and communities, confident in the future, and benefiting fully from a revitalised West Midlands.

Hybrid Working

The council operates hybrid working. This involves working from an agreed workplace location in the borough for at least two days a week.
