Welcome

Dear Candidate,

Thank you for your interest in the opportunity to become Principal of Outwood Academy City (OAC), a fantastic school with over 1100 students aged 11 to 16, serving a diverse and vibrant community.

OAC is an incredible school at the heart of its community. The school was judged to be Good in 2019 but we are not an academy that stands still, and we recognise that we must continually scrutinise our practice and challenge ourselves to be even better. We are seeking a Principal with the vision, personality, and strategic thinking to lead one of the most highly regarded schools in the area. You may be seeking your first headship or be an experienced Principal/Headteacher looking for a new challenge, but regardless you must have the determination and ambition to make the academy your own and to lead it to an even brighter future.

You will be working with an experienced Senior Leadership Team of 3 Vice Principal and 2 Assistant Principals to lead a committed team of teaching and support staff who are striving to raise standards and transform the life chances of all the students. Through modelling and coaching you will lead a relentless focus on the quality of teaching and learning and ensure every lesson delivers the highest standard of education. This will ultimately inspire our students to develop a passion for knowledge and a love of learning and give them access to the cultural experiences and opportunities that they deserve.

We are proud to have been a part of Outwood Grange Academies Trust since 2014. The Trust very simply wants to be known for putting Students First, raising standards and transforming lives. The Trust is one of the largest MAT’s in the country and with that OAC can draw on a range of expertise from across the Trust. The Trust also works across geographical sub-regions. I lead the secondary schools in the southern region, of which OAC is part, and it comprises 10 schools based in Doncaster, Chesterfield, Worksop, Scunthorpe, Sheffield and Kirkby in Ashfield. Principals from each of the 10 schools work closely together, sharing best practice and supporting one another to ensure continuous and never ending improvement for the 10,500 students in the region. You will be empowered to lead OAC and your professional development will be a priority for both myself and the Trust.

You are very welcome to visit to really get a feel for the school. All we really ask is that you are committed to our students and continue to offer the care, nurture and support required for the academy to truly excel. If you are I would be delighted for you to submit an application. To arrange a visit, discuss the role in more detail in confidence or to make an application please contact our recruitment partner Martin Blair at Hays Leadership on 07736791138 or at martin.blair@hays.com.
