After Completing my MSc in Supply chain Management, I wanted to join an organisation where procurement supports both operational excellence and social value. Notting Hill Genesis appealed to me because of its strong social purpose and the scale of its operations, which created a diverse and challenging procurement environment. The role offered an excellent opportunity to develop my procurement skills, gain exposure to public-sector principles, contribute to meaningful outcomes for residents and communities.
Prior to this role, I was a Postgraduate student at Anglia Ruskin University, where I completed my MSc in Supply Chain Management course. Before moving to the UK, I gained professional experience in operations in India, which provided me with a strong foundation in end-to-end supply chain processes and sparked my long-standing interest in procurement. Alongside my studies, I worked part-time at Notting Hill Genesis as a Customer Advisor, which gave me valuable insight into the organisation, its values and its impact on residents. This experience strengthened my understanding of the business and confirmed my ambition to progress into the procurement role, where I could apply both my academic knowledge and operational experience.
The best thing about working in Procurement at Notting Hill Genesis is the combination of a supportive team, strong organisational values, meaningful work. The procurement team foresters a collaborative and approachable culture, which supports continuous learning and professional development. I have been able to build my knowledge of complaint procurement processes, supplier management within a well-structured and supportive environment.
I believe Procurement plays a major role in supporting the organisation’s strategic objectives and delivering services that positively impact resident and communities. The scale and complexity of Notting Hill Genesis provide valuable exposure to a wide range of procurement activities, while the organisation also encourages progression and development into more senior roles. This makes procurement at Notting Hill Genesis both professionally rewarding and aligned with my long-term career goals.
Since joining, I am proud of how quickly I have developed my understanding of procurement processes and integrated into the team. I have built a strong foundation in compliant procurement practices, support key activities such as supplier coordination, documentation and system updates, and consistently delivered my responsibilities accurately and on time. I am also proud of the positive relationships I have build with my colleagues and stakeholders, which has enabled me to support the team effectively and add value to day-to-day procurement activities while continuing to develop my skills. I have developed confidence in procurement activities and supported the team across multiple activities and demonstrated a willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities. This progress has reinforced my commitment to developing a long-term career in procurement at Notting Hill Genesis.
I would advise anyone considering joining Notting Hill Genesis procurement to be open to learning and genuinely engaged with the organisation’s values and social purpose.
