Headteacher opportunity at
Mylnhurst Preparatory School & Nursery

Welcome

Welcome From The Chair of Directors

Dear Candidate

On behalf of my colleagues at Mylnhurst Preparatory School and Nursery I would like to begin by thanking you for your interest in our school and in applying for the position of Headteacher.

Mylnhurst is located in the heart of the South West suburbs of Sheffield and stands in its own grounds, formerly a private residence and then a Convent school. Proudly co-educational since its inception as a school in 1933, and due to the retirement of the current Executive Head, a unique opportunity has arisen to lead and continue to grow this beautiful and successful school and nursery. Sheffield is without doubt one of the greenest cities and in close proximity to the Peak District with a vibrant arts scene and rich heritage.

The school has a clear ethos providing an education based on the highest standards and Christian values; its motto “Age Quod Agis”, whatever you do, do it well. Every child is special, an individual and valued as such.

We are committed to appointing a candidate who shares our ambition for the school and the pupils. That person will have developed and consolidated their teaching career, and have an holistic understanding of education with a clear vision and ability to communicate, motivate and inspire all members of the school community. Whilst Mylnhurst is the top performing school in Sheffield, South Yorkshire and Derbyshire (ref. Times Top 100 Prep Schools 2019) the candidate will have to build and continue upon the path of excellence ensuring that the number of pupils increases, the outstanding academic standards are maintained and the pupils thrive in all areas of their education. This position has been achieved by hard work, dedication to the job and a determination to improve year upon year. The candidate should also be prepared to nurture and maintain links with local schools both in the maintained and independent sector.

Finally, the successful candidate will find that Mylnhurst is a family with children eager to learn, experienced and enthusiastic staff, a supportive Board of Directors and warm and appreciative parents and carers. We very much look forward to meeting you and thank you again for your interest in Mylnhurst School.
