About Digital Services

This is an exciting time to join Digital Services at the University of Leicester. We are embarking on the creation of an ambitious 5 year Digital Strategy, moving from the reactive supply of services to re-imagine the potential of technology to change lives. We are creating our digital future by pushing the boundaries of what is possible in supporting over 20,000 students and more than 3,500 staff on our campus in the heart of the city, online through hybrid working and worldwide.

We are split into two key functional areas, each led by a Director who is committed to delivering our transformational Digital Strategy.

• Digital Solutions. Providing the capabilities to design, build and implement innovative new and existing services to deliver against the Digital Strategy and encompasses the areas of Architecture, Application Services, Development and Agile delivery, Business Partnering and PMO.
• IT Operations. Running, maintaining and optimising our services to deliver the underpinning infrastructure that supports them, our operations encompass our customer facing services, Workplace Technology, Infrastructure & Operations as well as our critical Assurance and Security functions.

With over 130 staff across these areas, Digital Services is led by a Leadership Team, who are responsible for all activities and processes that are carried out in the division. The two Directors form our Senior Leadership who are accountable for the budget and direction of the division.

At the heart of Digital Services is customer experience, using feedback to drive value and quality in all areas that we support to ensure our wider ranging services and technologies continue to underpin the learning, teaching, research, and operations of the organisation.

These encompass a range of cutting-edge technologies including extensive campus wireless; a digital learning environment; high performance computing and research software engineering support; a huge range of specialist software packages; and specialist business applications to support our students’ journey through the institution and the lifecycle of research projects as they move from grant application through to publication and dissemination.
