Background to Corporate Services: Strategic Development

The University has a proud heritage of educating people and advancing knowledge, making a difference to the world around us and having impact. To secure the academic and financial sustainability of Kingston University we will build on this heritage through our commitment to academic achievement, to learning and innovating within a supportive and inclusive community, and through a balance of scholarship, research and professional practice.

The Corporate Plan sets out our overarching goals and character through vision and mission statements and our aims for students, staff and the local and global community. Our Strategic Plan, KU22, provides the framework to deliver this.

The Strategic Plan brings focus to those parts of our academic and financial performance that require improvement. Its priorities were developed through a number of workshops and meetings with the senior leadership team and senior leadership group. We analysed the external environment’s demands and opportunities and conducted, in effect, a gap analysis of where we were underperforming against our would-be competitors. The plan is of three-year’s duration because its aims must be delivered quickly to secure a prosperous future.

The Corporate Services directorate at Kingston University supports the university’s aims through Public Affairs and Insight; Brand and Communications; Strategic Planning and Data Insight; Development and Alumni Relations; Health, Safety and Security; and Strategic Development specifically supports the Pro-Vice Chancellor in delivering the university’s strategic objectives.
