BACKGROUND MAIN

Background to HR

The HR directorate at Kingston University comprises of specialist areas all providing a wide range of support and information for potential, new and existing staff.

The current HR operating model was designed to provide a range of professional and transactional services. Priorities include an integrated HR and Finance System, improved ways of working, and simplified policies and processes. Our aim is to shift the balance of HR focus and resources from transactional to transformational. It is about becoming better at anticipating and responding to emerging needs.

We are investing to create several new services. The HR business partnering and relationship management function is growing, to proactively meet new faculty and strategic requirements. The Organisational Development function is being enhanced, to help drive culture shift and support change initiatives. Centres of Excellence are being created, to deliver specialised consultancy support – from MI and analytics, to policy changes. A high performance, customer focused operational service will span the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment and payroll.

Our professionals give high level support across the University along with responding to day to day queries from all areas and staff. In addition, they ensure our policies and procedures provide suitable frameworks to enable staff to operate successfully during their employment at Kingston University.

Together we aim to enable Kingston University to recruit, develop and motivate staff, so that we all contribute to the University’s success.
