About us
ITAL Group (Independent Transport Associated Limited) was founded in 2003 to provide back-office enforcement support to the UK transport industry. We began with a small team and a focused goal: to help operators manage fare evasion cases with more consistency, legal accuracy, and operational efficiency. Over the last two decades, we’ve grown into a trusted national partner, helping the transport industry recover revenue, maintain policy integrity, and modernise enforcement systems.
Today, we support train operating companies across the UK rail network. Our clients include some of the biggest names in the industry – such as Govia Thameslink Railway, Great Western Railway, Greater Anglia, c2c, Avanti West Coast, West Midlands Trains and Transport for London. These partnerships are built on deep operational understanding and a reputation for delivering what we promise. Whether it’s digital tools, legal services, or day-to-day case management, our role is to keep revenue protection running smoothly behind the scenes.
As legislation and industry standards shift, we’ve continued to adapt.
In response to recent regulatory changes affecting prosecutions, we are now developing an in-house legal team to ensure our clients can continue enforcement effectively and affordably.
We’re also investing in software redevelopment, user experience, and integrations with central rail platforms. This investment reflects our commitment to long-term sector leadership – not just as a vendor, but as a strategic partner.
With a growing team of around 35 staff based in Portsmouth
– plus hybrid roles across the UK – ITAL Group remains agile and responsive. We’ve built a strong internal culture of accountability, support and innovation. Our leadership team combines commercial insight with deep sector experience, and our developers and operations staff work in close collaboration with our clients.
Our growth hasn’t come from flash or scale alone – it’s come from a consistent ability to solve hard problems, to stay ahead of regulatory shifts, and to make sure our clients are never left behind. ITAL Group may not be the loudest name in the sector, but we are known, trusted, and relied upon – and we’re just getting started.
