The IB has operating offices in 5 countries supported by approximately 1,000 staff members worldwide. Our dynamic organization depends on the Global Human Resource team of over 25 professionals to deliver strategic thought leadership and operational guidance on a daily basis. Specifically, the Global HR team is seeking a Head of Human Resources, UK to set strategic HR guidance and provide HR operational expertise for an IB staff of approximately 300 employees located primarily in Cardiff. Approximately 70% of the UK workforce perform within IB’s Assessment division which serves to design and administer educational testing instruments and measurements on the innovative IB curricula. Assessment work is a core competency of the IB offer and operating model.  This important role will be supported by a strong and experienced local staff of 4+ HR professionals.

About IB

A foundation registered in Switzerland, the IB is non-profit. It is governed by an elected Board of Governors, which appoints the Director General, sets the strategic direction of the organization, adopts a mission statement, makes policy, oversees the IB's financial management, and ensures the autonomy and integrity of IB Diploma Programme examinations and other student assessment. Board membership represents cultural and geographical diversity.

The main sources of IB income are:

  • authorization and evaluation fees
  • workshops and conferences
  • publications
  • annual school fee
  • examination fees
  • other fees, including donations.

The IB offers four educational programmes to more than 1.95 million students aged 3 to 19 across the globe. The IB programmes can be offered individually or as a continuum of international education.

As of May 2021, there were over 7,400 programmes being offered worldwide, across over 5,400 schools in 159 countries.

Between 2016 and 2020, the number of IB programmes offered worldwide has grown by 33.3%.

  • Base Salary – reviewed annually in line with Financial Year, usually July each year – circa £75K
  • Flexible Benefits credit of 1.5% of annual salary (can be taken in cash if preferred)
  • Pension of 6% Employer contribution, based on 3% employee contribution
  • 30 days Annual Leave per annum
  • Life Insurance 4 x annual salary
  • Working Week of 37.5 hours
  • Free parking on-site @ Cardiff Gate location
  • Currently remote working through to September 2021, where a return to the office is currently under review and being planned.  
    • Likely working pattern will be minimum 3 days per week in the Cardiff office for the foreseeable future
