Welcome to the Restoration and Renewal Programme
The Palace of Westminster, one of the best recognised buildings in the world, needs essential restoration to preserve it for future generations. Restoring Parliament is already boosting UK industries, and the restoration will use UK materials wherever possible and create jobs and apprenticeships across the country, from engineering and high-tech design to traditional crafts such as carpentry and stonemasonry.
It is widely agreed that the Houses of Parliament needs essential restoration. This is not an ordinary renovation. The 150 year old Palace of Westminster was built at the start of Queen Victoria’s reign. There are 65 different levels, with more than 100 staircases and as well as being one of the UK’s busiest buildings it’s one of the nation’s busiest workplaces with thousands of people on site each day.
This is a hugely exciting and unique programme and we are entering into a major strategic procurement initiative to procure three long-term Strategic Partners. Having recently announced our preliminary market consultation we are now creating a new team to facilitate this procurement. We are looking for experienced procurement professionals who can think creatively and work with the team to provide innovative solutions to deliver this high value Strategic Procurement. This is a once in a life time opportunity to help shape the future of this truly unique Programme.
