Your new company

HMP Channings Wood are looking to add 3 additional Security Escorts to the growing security team with upcoming expansion work in the establishment.

Your new role

To ensure the safety and security of the contractors, staff and prisoners during periods where large building contractors are carrying out work on site within a HMPPS establishment. You will also ensure that no unauthorised persons or items enter the establishment/ building site. This is an entry-level position, perfect for someone looking to pursue a career in the prison services. This opportunity is due to last at least 3 years due to the sheer amount of work being carried out.


Details:

• Pay Rate: £13.10ph (Inclusive of Holiday Pay Accrual)


Working Hours:

• Monday to Friday (37 hours per week minimum). Candidates are encouraged to be flexible as these hours could change to meet contractors' demands. Overtime is paid for any hours worked once 37 hours have been obligated. Start times will range from 06:30 – 08:00.

This is the standard sociable shift pattern, which should mean you shouldn't finish any later than 17:30. However, individual contracts may vary.


Holiday:

All vacancies offer 33 days of annual leave in addition to the basic rates. Escorts will benefit from long-term contracts and there is also the potential, once trained, to work in other prisons both locally and nationally.

The Role/ Duties:

• Checking in contractors and their tools

• Searching vehicles

• Searching Contractors

• Supervision of contractors while on site

• Routine administrative work

Experience:

• No formal qualifications are required

• Successful applicants will have a background in customer service or security, and will be assessed based on the following competencies: Acting with integrity, respecting others, building relationships and team work, communicating effectively, developing self and others.

• All applicants must be able to provide details of satisfactory references to cover 3 years of employment

• All applicants must have indefinite leave to remain in the UK.

• All applicants must be willing to undergo security clearance and identity checks, including a Basic DBS.


Training:

Full training is provided by the establishment/ department. Training time will be paid at the standard hourly rate.
