Hitachi Construction Machinery (HCM) was established in 1970 in Japan and has grown to become one of the leaders in the global market of construction equipment suppliers.
Using advanced technology and decades of experience, HCM has developed a comprehensive product range including excavators, wheel loaders, dump trucks, crawler cranes and special application machines.
Hitachi Construction Machinery UK Ltd was established over 50 years ago, and we have become the market leader in delivering safe, durable, and reliable products competitively and on time across the UK and Ireland. Our commitment to exceeding customer expectations is reflected in our title as the ‘UK’s number one excavator supplier’.
HCMUK has operational bases across the UK, with our head office based in Hebburn.
The country is broadly split into 4 regions, the North (covering northern England & Scotland) the Midlands, South East and South West. Each region has several depots located to provide support and parts to both customers and engineers.
Our History:
Since our inception, our mission has been to be the foremost name in construction equipment in the UK. We achieve this by offering class-leading products and national support through our 14 depots and appointed sub-dealer in Ireland.
Originally trading as Beazer Plant Sales and BM Plant from 1972 to 1993, we became HM Plant in 1993.
In 2004, we relocated from Bridgewater to our purpose-built head office in Hebburn. All our machines enter the UK via the Port of Tyne so re relocation to Hebburn, located just 4 miles from the Port, offered significant operational improvements. The state-of-the-art facility also allowed the Company to continue to grow by substantially increasing the size of our production areas.
In 2007, we joined Hitachi Construction Machinery Europe as a wholly owned subsidiary and rebranded to Hitachi Construction Machinery UK in 2014.
To this day, our HQ in Hebburn, South Tyneside have expanded to over 12 acres and are the main production facilities for new equipment and Hitachi Connected Technology and business support services.
