Welcome to Harlow College

We are an award-winning Further Education College located in Essex, located between London and Cambridge. We have two main campuses, one in Harlow and the other at London Stansted Airport. We are passionate about our students and they make our College a really special place. We are graded Good by Ofsted and have won many awards for our innovative approach to learning.

We were the first College in the UK to be awarded Apple Distinguished School status, for our transformative approach to digital learning, teaching and assessment. We have held this international quality mark since 2017. Apple Distinguished Schools are centres of innovation, leadership, and educational excellence that use Apple products to inspire creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking.

We employ approximately 460 staff and they are our greatest asset. Our teaching staff have professional expertise and this is matched by industry standard facilities, including specialist workshops, classrooms with the latest technology, as well as great social spaces to relax. We strive to be an excellent employer and offer a range of benefits to our staff to attract and retain the very best talent. Which includes a generous contributory pension scheme, sector leading annual leave entitlement, for our teachers this can be as much as 42 days annual leave each year, alongside 8 bank holidays plus a day off on your birthday!

Our main strength is our team centred approach.  We regularly receive feedback on what a great place the College is to work. We are looking for staff to help us on our journey towards excellence. In a global world we believe that overseas job applicants offer us a range of knowledge, skills and experience which will enrich our students’ experience. We care passionately about the success, well-being, development and progress of our students. All our staff have a role in helping them reach their full potential. We are looking for excellent people who share this vision to join us.

The College is fast paced and change is the norm – it takes hard work and commitment. But the rewards are there too. As well as great career prospects and a competitive salary, you can expect substantial investment in your continuing professional development.

We look forward to welcoming you to our community.

About Us Block

About Us

More than Courses. Careers.

We take your learning seriously, providing a great range of courses to equip you with the skills you need to prepare you for the workplace, an Apprenticeship or for further study at college or university. Our teaching staff have industry expertise and this is matched by industry standard facilities, including specialist workshops, classrooms with the latest technology, as well as great social spaces to relax.

We are graded Good by Ofsted and have won awards for our innovative approach to learning. We have been recognised as an Apple Distinguished School for 2022–2025 for the third time, after first being named as an ADS in November 2017. This latest recognition celebrates the College’s ongoing approach to transforming learning, teaching and assessment. Apple Distinguished Schools are centres of innovation, leadership, and educational excellence that use Apple products to inspire creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking. They showcase innovative uses of technology in learning, teaching, and the education environment and have documented results of academic accomplishment.

In September 2023 the college will be unveiling the brand new South East Institute of Technology on the college campus. IOTs offer higher level qualifications and training in core STEM subjects, helping to ensure that the courses we offer are based on what the economy and local communities need and that our students have the best possible career prospects.

In September 2018 the College, in partnership with London Stansted Airport, opened its doors to the £11 million London Stansted Airport College, providing a range of technical and professional courses in the disciplines of aviation, cabin crew, engineering and events management. Stansted Airport serves over 25 million passengers a year.

The Centre builds on the reputation of Harlow College for consistent high quality and excellent student progress. Harlow College is one of the top colleges in the country for academic and vocational progress according to DfE performance tables. This means its students do better than if they had studied in a college or sixth form elsewhere.

Harlow is a vibrant town with art and culture, sport and green spaces at its heart. Located close to London, Stansted Airport and Cambridge, it’s easy to get to thanks to excellent rail and road links.

What do you enjoy about working for Harlow College?

The opportunity to understand, know and implement new teaching/learning methods and strategies within the further education vocational courses environment. Always embracing equality and diversity fully. As I first joined the supported studies and Learning Support teams, before becoming a full-time teacher I was able to work closely with students with different abilities, especially with neurodiverse students, which I found fundamental towards my professional and personal development
