Pay information
All salary payments are made on the 25th of each month. If the 25th is a Saturday/Sunday or a Bank Holiday then salaries are paid on the Friday before.
e.g. 25th June is a Sunday, therefore salaries are paid on the Friday, 23rd June.
Salaries are paid in calendar months.
Annual leave
Holiday entitlement starts at 34 days; this allowance is inclusive of statutory holidays and any closure days. If you are part-time your holiday entitlement is calculated on a pro-rata basis. Please refer to your Statement of Terms and Conditions of Employment for more information.
There is an additional entitlement of up to 5 days dependent upon your length of service, please see the below table:
Pension - SHPS Defined Contribution Scheme
If you meet the minimum criteria, as below, you will automatically be enrolled into the SHPS DC Scheme.
The minimum criteria:
- earn over £10,000 a year (£833 a month)
- are aged 22 or over; and
- are under State Pension age
If you join the pension scheme both you and your employer will contribute a minimum 1% towards your scheme, up to a maximum of 8% matched.
Flexi-time
This role qualifies you to flexi-time arrangement where the following rules apply:
- There are core hours within the working day. Time worked outside the normal working hours can be accumulated to allow one additional day of flexi leave per 4 week period.
- Additionally time off in lieu (TOIL) can also be accumulated to hold a maximum of one week’s hours in credit. Further details can be found in the Attendance Policy.
- Due to the nature of work, the hours of work in some teams may vary and this will be stated in your terms and conditions of employment
Flexible working
All requests for flexible working wherever possible, in line with our flexible working policy. Part-time staff will be entitled to the same rates of holidays and salary as the full-time equivalents, but on a pro-rata basis. Any arrangements made will also take into account the needs of the business.
Compassionate leave
Compassionate leave is provided to allow you to have sufficient time to deal with times of crisis, this leave may be paid leave or unpaid leave, dependent on the situation and the duration. Please discuss this with your line manager should an issue arise. Further details can be found in the Attendance Policy.
Company sick pay
As a group employee you will be entitled to receive payment during aggregated sickness absence in accordance with below:
During 1st year of service:
1 month’s full pay and (after 4 months’ service) 2 months’ half pay
During 2nd year of service:
2 months’ full pay and 2 months’ half pay
During 3rd year of service:
4 months’ full pay and 2 months’ half pay
During 4th year of service:
5 months’ full pay and 5 months’ half pay
During 5th year of service:
6 months’ full pay and 6 months’ half pay

Charity days
You can take 2 days paid leave per year to undertake voluntary work, with a registered charity. You may use the days to undertake work in the community or work on behalf of a charity. If you choose to do so, you must seek the approval of your manager prior to making any arrangements.
Professional subscriptions
emh group reimburse an individual for the cost of one annual professional subscription. If subscriptions are paid in advance and should the employee then leave employment, we may look to recover the residual balance of the subscription year. The criteria for reimbursement are contained within the Professional Subscriptions Policy.
Cycle to work
emh group have teamed up with Cycle2Work to offer huge savings on the cost of a new bike for anyone who cycles to work. These savings have been made possible by the Government’s "Green Transport Plan" which aims to get more people out of cars and on bikes by offering significant tax benefits on the cost of cycles and safety equipment.
Childcare vouchers
If you have children under the age of 16 and pay for registered childcare you could save money by joining the Childcare Voucher scheme.
Childcare Vouchers are non-taxable and National Insurance exempt and each parent can request up to £243 worth per month (£56 approximately per week), simply by exchanging the same amount of your salary. Childcare Vouchers can be used to pay for any type of registered childcare, including nurseries, nannies, child-minders, au pairs, out of school clubs and holiday schemes.
Training and qualifications
emh group are committed to training and developing all colleagues, courses are run regularly for all staff members. Additionally, there are opportunities and the chance to apply for funding for anyone wishing to undergo further professional qualifications limited to their role.
Secondment opportunities
emh group have a formal secondment policy in place. Vacancies within emh group are open to you to apply with secondment opportunities being considered to most posts
Health cash plan
Your employer contributes towards a Health Cash Plan. This entitles you to claim towards expenses for everyday essentials such as dental treatment and eye tests. They also provide an Employee Assistance Programme providing counselling and support.
