About Design ID

Founded in 2005, Design ID is an award-winning structural and civil engineering practice, with a reputation for innovative design solutions and lateral thinking.

From the offices in Hillsborough (County Down) and London, the current team of 28 have developed a diverse portfolio of work, extending throughout the UK and Ireland.

The team has been formed from dynamic, creative and ambitious structural engineers and designers that have built a reputation for producing innovative design solutions with a pro-active approach to working with Architects, Artists, Designers, Developers and Contractors. Experience of working in multidisciplinary teams and lateral thinking enables Design ID to make a positive contribution at an early stage in the design process, when engineering input can often be used to achieve an elegant and cost effective solution.

They have developed a practice where research, material and technical knowledge is the key to providing services beyond those of the more traditional engineering consultants.

Design ID’s work covers an unusually wide range, both in nature and scale, with projects varying from minor alterations and extensions, to major new buildings and refurbishment projects. They are committed to using the most recent developments in materials and construction techniques to keep at the fore of an ever evolving industry.

Their engineers have developed the skills required to engineer geometrically and structurally complex projects. Three dimensional computer modelling has become an integral aspect in realising many design visions and they use their skills in this area at conceptual stages to help other members of the design team and clients visualise various solutions.
