About us

About us

We’re a health and social care charity. We help people with challenges including drugs and alcohol, housing, justice, health and wellbeing.

Our values work together, as principles that guide the way we act and the choices we make.

Be open, be compassionate, be bold.

About us

We exist to help people achieve their goals, to be the best that they can be and to help change society for the better. This is true whether we are talking about the people who use our services, our staff or our volunteers.

We are not in control of everything that impacts upon the people who use our services. However, we are in control of what we do, how we behave and where we focus our expertise, resources and energy.

Our aim is to work together to challenge stigma and oppression. We want our charity to be a place where our staff and people who use our services are respected and engaged. Ultimately we want to make life safer, easier and better for as many people as we can.

Change Grow Live has grown from a tiny volunteer-led Sussex-based organisation, to a nationwide charity that helps tens of thousands of people each day.

Stories about how Change Grow Live makes a difference
About us

Our mission, vision and values guide everything we do.

Believe in people

At Change Grow Live, above all else we believe in people. It's the one thing that acts as a foundation for all our work.

For people who use our services: we understand what they are going through. We don't judge. We believe they can make positive changes in their lives.

For people who work or volunteer for us: we believe in their potential. We believe they can do brilliant, life-changing work.

For our partners: we believe that together we can deliver real value and positive change in our local communities.

Our mission and vision

Our mission is to help people change the direction of their lives, grow as individuals, and live life to its full potential.

The vision we're working towards is to develop, deliver and share a whole person approach that changes society.

Values

Our values work together, as principles that guide the way we act and the choices we make.

Career development

Career development really means something at Change Grow Live.

A significant number of our members of staff are former service users. Often service users tell us that they want to give something back, or gain skills and experience that will lead to a more fulfilling life. So we have lots of voluntary roles available, like service user representative, recovery coach, peer mentor or volunteer. These roles all have variations that enable more choices and opportunities. When a volunteer is ready to move to full-time employment, they can become a recovery champion. This can help support their progression to full-time paid work with us or elsewhere.

Many of our staff started with us as front-line workers, volunteers or peer mentors too (including our Chief Executive). They've progressed their careers through hard work, commitment, learning and development opportunities.

We think this is a huge strength; because so many of our staff have frontline, real-life experience they're in the perfect position to support our service users.

Personalised learning and development

You'll have a personal performance development framework which identifies your needs and sets clear targets and goals. We'll coordinate your learning through an online learning management system, which provides you with a personalised dashboard bringing together supervision, appraisal, online courses and tailored resources. You can take time off to pursue relevant higher education qualifications too.

Our medical director and clinical experts provide a framework for continuing professional development for all our clinical professionals, including psychiatrists, psychologists, doctors and nurses. We also provide the post-qualifying ‘assisted supported year in employment’ (ASYE) for social workers.

Leadership development programme

We have a well-established leadership development programme which provides competency training and support for those entering and progressing through management. We are also developing specific support for female, BAME, disabled and LGBT staff, to improve representation in senior leadership roles.

Research

We're committed to developing evidence-based practice that shows what we do is effective. You'll have the opportunity to participate in developing research that will enable us to improve our practice and demonstrate our impact. Our research is published so other practitioners in the field can learn from our findings and improve their service delivery.

The future

Since we first started, one goal has driven everything we do: to make a difference in people’s lives. That’s still what drives us now. We know that what we do works, so we want as many people as possible to benefit. That’s how we’ll make our vision - to change society for the better - a reality.
