Our industrial heritage is well known, but Bolton doesn’t stand still for long. We are delivering a £1bn town centre regeneration masterplan, while working to grow the economy and bring high-skilled well-paying jobs into the borough.

While we do that, our recently agreed Bolton Climate Strategy means we are also committed to making the borough cleaner, greener and more sustainable. We are working with our partners to tackle climate change and work towards delivering net-zero carbon emissions by 2030.

Our charity sector is the envy of the UK and we work in close partnership to engage with residents and deliver the best possible outcomes for all.

When it comes to culture and sports, Bolton punches well above its weight - from the famous Bolton Wanderers to the iconic Octagon Theatre. Bolton Food and Drink Festival brings 100,000s of visitors into the town centre and the annual IRONMAN UK weekend inspires residents to get healthy and active.

Bolton is a thriving borough in its own right. But we also have excellent transport links to the centre of Manchester and the rest of the region. The council is a key part of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, and we have a huge opportunity to influence policy and budgets through the devolution agreement and our GM Mayor.

The growing demand on council resources means we must deliver big changes. We need a candidate who can inspire and lead a multi-disciplined team, embed the values of the council into all that we do, and exert a positive influence on partners and businesses, to turn our 2030 Vision into reality.

Ours is a hugely ambitious and exciting agenda, which makes the Head of Technology an attractive leadership opportunity in local government today.

We have faced challenges, but better times are ahead, and the council is committed to making Bolton the best place to live, work, visit, invest and study.
