Welcome to BCP Council.

Here at BCP Council we have strong ambitions to grow. Born out of Local Government Reorganisation in 2019, Bournemouth Christchurch and Poole have come together to form the 10th largest urban local authority in England. It is a place where culture and heritage meet innovation and modernity, village meets town, country meets coast, creativity meets digital, businesses flourish and people thrive.

The potential for investment and economic growth is huge. We have an emerging Local Plan that will need to deliver a step change in growth rates over the next 5 years and beyond. To make that happen, we need to change our thinking, so that we are actively enabling and encouraging development, and some of that development will be very different to what we have been used to. We need a Planning service that can collaboratively harness the vision for the future, as well as implement that vision. To do that we are investing in our existing team, as well as strengthening it by inviting more people to join us.

Our culture is one of openness to ideas and experimentation in how we do things, and we welcome imaginative, creative and ambitious thinking. We know that we’re not the highest performing service at present, but we are improving fast. We want people to join us on our journey and be a part of our exciting new future.
