Business Manager to join their Senior Leadership Team on an
interim basis. This is a strategic role responsible for leading and managing the school’s business operations, including finance, HR, estates, administration, IT, catering, and health and safety. The successful candidate will provide expert guidance to the Principal and Governors, ensuring that all support services contribute effectively to the school’s educational mission. Location: Cheetham Hill, Manchester
Rate: £27.48/hour - £30.53/hour DOE
Contract Type: Full-time, temporary (ongoing)
Start Date: ASAP
Key Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership across all non-teaching functions of the school.
- Manage financial operations in collaboration with the Trust’s Finance Business Partner.
- Lead HR processes including recruitment, performance management, and compliance.
- Oversee facilities and estates management, ensuring health and safety standards are met.
- Manage contracts and service providers including cleaning, catering, and caretaking.
- Ensure effective use of Management Information Systems and statutory reporting.
- Lead the school’s administrative team and front office operations.
- Act as Data Protection Lead and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Support admissions, attendance, and governance processes.
- Contribute to the wider life of the school and Trust.
Key Skills/Experience:
- Minimum 5 GCSEs (A*–C) including English and Maths (essential).
- Professional qualification in Business Management, Accountancy, HR or Premises Management (desirable).
- Experience in managing finance, HR, premises, and administrative systems within a school environment (essential).
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Knowledge of school financial procedures, HR legislation, and data protection.
