Hays IT are working in partnership with Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust to recruit a Infrastructure Engineer (Network/Server) on a permanent basis. Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust are the county’s main provider of Community, Mental Health and Learning Disability services and additionally, from April 2020, will also be the main provider of Mental Health and Learning Disability services to Herefordshire.

With services for people of all ages, ranging from health visiting, speech & language therapies and physical and mental health care for children and young people through to a full range of services for adults and older people, including occupational therapy, physiotherapy and dementia care.

Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust realise the significant contribution digital technology and services can make to improving clinical services to their patients across Herefordshire and Worcestershire. The Trust’s IT team is embarking on a major service remodelling programme to in-source a full range of IT services and to improve their digital support and innovation offering. Their management team is driven by a desire to support their clinical services and thereby, their patients, but they need to expand their team with like-minded recruits to facilitate this. They intend to build a team who will, at every level, be driven in the same way to provide the very best.

Key responsibilities:
  • Ensure maximum availability of IT Systems. Actively manage, monitor and analyse technical Infrastructure, taking remedial action where necessary in accordance with the policies and procedures of the organisation.
  • Apply specialist expertise to a range of highly complex technical infrastructure situations and problems, where, without such intervention there is considerable uncertainty as to the outcome. Provide analysis and input to root cause reviews.
  • Plan, install, support and maintain multiple complex technologies including server hardware and software, storage and applications, Identify and communicate technical risks to the team manager making appropriate recommendations where necessary.
  • Provide 3rd line infrastructure support for network and server environments to WHCT and its users ensuring prompt resolution in line with agreed service level agreements and contracts
  • Support the team manager in managing effective use of Infrastructure systems to ensure that the WHCT client base receives sufficiently responsive and reliable data and application platforms
  • Working with the team manager on planning, project work, risk management and documentation around infrastructure ensuring that all system design and implementation is carried out in line with our agreed standards
  • Effectively manage tasks assigned via the work package process to design, analyse and implement effective and appropriately resilient infrastructure solutions in a highly complex environment within specified parameters to meet WHCT client requirements; ensuring that all solutions are researched, tested and fully documented
  • Take responsibility for the security and confidentiality of personal and sensitive information owned by WHCT, its staff, partners and patients, through strict adherence to information governance policies, best practice and authorised use of smartcards and passwords
  • Participation in the ‘Out Of Hours’ IT support staff On-Call Rota as required and with prior agreement . This role will involve an element of travel to our client bases

In order to apply for this vacancy, you must have the following skills and experience:
  • Solid understanding of current IT standards, capabilities and developments in server, storage and applications delivery
  • Significant proven knowledge of server hardware and software including Active Directory and Group Policy and supporting Networking equipment
  • Highly adept understanding of Microsoft products such as Server (2012, 2016),
  • Ability to identify and evaluate highly complex problems based on a broad knowledge of technical experience
  • Proven motivation and demonstrated capability for analytical, creative and innovative thought
  • Ability to analyse complex data, observe trends and formulate conclusions and solutions
  • Ability to convey complex IT issues and solutions to peer groups, non-IT staff and 3rd. party suppliers.
  • Ability to examine and apply alternative procedures and methods for experimental testing and to use these to achieve benefits to users
  • Qualification or Working knowledge of ITIL v3 concepts
  • Server virtualisation qualification or equivalent knowledge
  • MCSE or equivalent knowledge
  • CCNA Qualified
