Your New Company

At AstraZeneca, we pride ourselves on crafting a collaborative culture that champions knowledge-sharing, ambitious thinking and innovation – ultimately providing employees with the opportunity to work across teams, functions and globally.

The Biopharmaceuticals Clinical Operations, E2E Planning, is a global department within AstraZeneca R&D. We are a collaborative and inclusive community where curious and passionate individuals are committed to enabling the discovery of new medicines for our patients, who are at the core of everything we strive for.

Are you a communications professional seeking an opportunity to direct communications in a world-leading clinical operations function?

A new programme has been approved by the R&D and Supply Chain organisations of AZ to support the AZ Bold ambition to introduce 20 new medicines to patients by 2030. The ambition is to implement connected, optimised clinical planning processes & systems, with data at the core, to drive great cross-enterprise decision-making.
Our ambition is to unlock our full potential as a delivery organisation by connecting our planning processes, creating better visibility throughout our planning, and driving data-driven decision-making. We are currently seeking a talented and highly motivated individual to lead the communications for this programme with the support of a communications manager and working in partnership with the Change Management Director.

Your New Role
  • Define and implement the communications and engagement strategy for BioPharmaceuticals Clinical Operations Transformation Program, working closely with key stakeholders across AstraZeneca.
  • Work directly with the Transformation Program leadership team to define the strategic focus and develop content for internal and high-profile external engagements.
  • Act as a strategic communications advisor to the Transformation Program Leads, LT members, and priority project leads.
  • Lead the planning, communication asset creation, and implementation to support key strategic needs for the Transformation Program strategy.
  • Build and execute an engaging internal editorial calendar to raise the visibility of Transformation Program achievements across AstraZeneca (e.g. contribution to milestones, project deliverables, and technology innovations) and to communicate our scorecard using a range of platforms.
  • Work with external comms and design agencies to deliver professional-grade content into internal and external communications (e.g. custom images and graphics)
  • Support the information sharing strategy for the use of specific collaboration mechanisms, such as Microsoft Teams and SharePoint Online
  • Provide direction, guidance, and development of communication team members
  • Work closely with E2E Planning colleagues in Project Management and Change Management to drive an aligned communication approach and strategy representative of the brand.

Essential Skills
  • Significant experience in transformation communication and proven ability to clearly articulate complex data fit for the audience.
  • Preferably experiences from a Change perspective, whether that be methodology or a comprehensive understanding of the overlap of the two experience areas.
  • Proven track record in a communication leadership role (ideally as evidenced by professional accreditation).
  • Ability to clearly articulate complex data into effective and compelling communication that is appropriate for the level of audience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Broad knowledge of the pharmaceutical drug development process.
  • Strong influencing, networking, and team-working skills.
  • A proven track record of delivering tasks in a timely manner.
  • Direct experience with supporting the successful execution of large and complex Transformation Programs.
