The Protein Science team, sits within the Protein Science, Structure and Biophysics department and is responsible for the generation of validated protein reagents to support projects in all phases of the drug discovery pipeline.

We currently have an exciting contracting opportunity for a talented Senior Research Scientist to join us in Discovery Sciences, you will be a lab-based scientist and a key member of a team producing proteins to support Oncology projects with a significant focus on hit finding and drug discovery.


Accountabilities

  • Delivering expertise in the area of construct design, recombinant protein expression, purification and characterization
  • Leading by example as an effective team member, supporting Discovery Projects to meet their objectives

  • Effectively communicating results to other members of the project team, section or to other Departments, as required
  • Demonstrating flexibility within and across teams/projects
  • Maintaining an awareness of current developments in the literature and to make effective use of appropriate literature search tools
  • Responsibility for and ensuring that the results of your experiments are recorded accurately and to a high standard in accordance with current guidelines

Essential Requirements

  • Expertise in the area of Protein Science through a demonstrable knowledge of construct design, molecular biology, protein expression, purification, characterization
  • Ph.D in Biology, Biochemistry or a related discipline or a BSc/MSc degree with relevant protein experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry

  • Enthusiastic, collaborative, and inquisitive approach


Desirable Requirements

  • An understanding of pre-clinical drug discovery and how it contributes to and should influence projects
  • An understanding of how different drug discovery disciplines contribute to and work together within a project
  • Knowledge or experience of assay development, structural techniques, and/or Biophysical techniques
