We are seeking to appoint a Consultant in Public Health//Public Health Medicine who is ready to lead, influence and drive system-wide change. This is a senior leadership role, working closely with me and deputising when required, to shape and deliver our strategic vision for Public Health across the city.

This opportunity comes at a pivotal moment. With Local Government Reorganisation and the evolution of NHS Integrated Care Boards, there is real scope to innovate and collaborate across systems to improve outcomes. As a key member of both the Public Health Departmental Management Team and the Council’s Senior Leadership Network, you will act as a change agent — forging partnerships, leading initiatives, and delivering on our Health and Wellbeing Strategy, Strategic Plan and leading our Health-in-all-Policies approach.

Your work will focus on:

• Driving collaborative health initiatives, such as Narrowing the Gap, to tackle inequalities through integrated care, lifestyle interventions and community engagement
• Supporting children and families to thrive, through programmes like A Better Start and the development of integrated hubs offering holistic support
• Promoting healthier lifestyles to reduce preventable diseases
• Improving mental health and emotional wellbeing across all age groups
• Addressing wider determinants of health, including education, housing, employment and income
• Designing inclusive and accessible services that meet the needs of all residents
• Championing prevention, including immunisation and smoking cessation programmes
