Exciting opportunity for Head of Housing and Innovation for large homeless charity based in central Oxford

Your new company
You will be working for the largest homeless accommodation provider in Oxfordshire. This brilliant charity started 30 years ago as a night shelter and now provide accommodation to over 200 people in Oxfordshire. They provide short term accommodation alongside a high quality support service to help people take control of their own lives, learn how to manage a tenancy, improve self-esteem and succeed with greater independence.

With an exciting new strategy in place, they are now looking for a Head of Housing and Innovation to join the team to look after a new service including housing management, property management and repairs and facilities.

Your new role
This is a highly varied and challenging role where you will be responsible for the effective leadership, management and development of this new Housing and Property service. It would be highly advantageous if you have an understanding of the homeless support services available in Oxfordshire as well as the pressures on the industry.

Repairs and Maintenance: you will oversee repairs and maintenance to properties, void refurbishments, and co-ordinate the cleaning and emergency on call maintenance team.

Property Services: you will be responsible for the operational compliance, lease management, health and safety and other property management.

Housing Management: you will be responsible for the Housing Management, including managing some challenging behaviour and ASB; preventing evictions where possible or supporting the court and legal work where this cannot be done; managing rent arrears and debts and implementing new housing management policies and procedures.

As well as the above, you will be involved in procuring new properties and supporting the CEO with social investment portfolios and with strategic work including training, development of staff and technological and system upgrades.

What you'll need to succeed
We are looking for a strong leader who is creative, purpose-led and has a passion for preventing homelessness. You will have experience at a senior management level with substantial budgetary responsibility; devising strategies and housing procedures and writing reports for senior management and external bodies. You will need knowledge of the legal and practical functions of this role including housing law and lease management.
You will need excellent communication skills, be able to make quick decisions, prioritise a heavy workload and be able to motivate and influence a team.

The successful candidate will also need a full, clean driving license.
