Inclusion Manager, QTS, schools, families


Southend Council are looking to appoint full time permanent Inclusion Manager.
This is a varied and interesting lead role in reducing children missing from education and increasing access to learning. The role is the service manager for the Inclusion Team and has responsibilities for performance, policy, strategy, development and line management of service areas and staff within the Inclusion Team. These fall under three main themes, Elective Home Education, Children Missing Education and Access to suitable education.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a difference, leading and motivating a small team of mostly new officers who will champion the rights of every child to have access to an inclusive, suitable, full time education. In addition, there is a need to quickly understand and act upon the needs of the local area, building relationships and collaborative working with school leaders, services and the community to design and implement a new vision and strategy for inclusive practice in Southend.

To be successful in this position it would be a definite advantage to have QTS status and to have worked effectively within an inclusive practice previously either with schools or families. The work with the home educated community will include some operational duties for assessing the suitability of children’s education and engaging and working in collaboration with parents, children and support services.
