Domestic Violence Support Worker

Community and Outreach Worker needed for domestic violence charity, Bristol on a 5 month temp contract

Your new company
You will be working for an excellent supported housing organisation specialising in Domestic Violence in Bristol and the surrounding area. You will be working for an organisation who provides practical support, advice and advocacy to survivors of domestic violence and their children. The organisation focuses on empowering survivors to increase their options, make positive choices and increase their confidence, safety and recovery. .

Your new role
You will be providing a package of emotional and practical support for those moving out of safe house accommodation and into the community; those already living in the community; or those who are still in abusive relationships. You will be providing them with practical and emotional support to aid them in feeling safer, have an increased understanding in what is happening to them and aid them in moving on into safe accommodation.

You will be providing advice on tenancies, benefits, teaching independent living skills and creating support plans and risk assessments using DASH and refer women to MARAC where appropriate.

You will mostly be working with women and children. There may be some flexibility with the location of this job as services work across Bristol, North Somerset and South Glous

What you'll need to succeed
You will need experience of being a support worker in a high support environment and have experience of working with women in vulnerable situations. You will need knowledge of housing, other services in Bristol and previous experience of working in domestic abuse would be advantageous.

A full, UK driver's license would be highly advantageous but is not essential.
