ABOUT US
The Trust’s main function is that of landlord and guardian of Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. It is responsible for keeping the historic buildings in a good state of repair, for collecting rents and service charges from its tenants, and for refurbishing empty or redundant buildings for appropriate new uses. This ensures that the historic buildings and structures are safeguarded for the enjoyment of future generations. In 2010 the Trust acquired the freehold of Priddy’s Hard, a former armaments depot in Gosport and it has just commenced the regeneration of this 30 acre site and the many scheduled monuments and listed buildings located there.
The Trust also owns and operates the Historic Dockyard Car Park, along with some retail units at Admiralty Quarter on Queen Street.
Two of the Historic Dockyard attractions –Dockyard Apprentice Exhibition and Boathouse No. 4 “Forgotten Craft” exhibition– are owned and run by the Trust along with the provision of the very popular harbour tours.
