Welcome

Thank you for taking the time to read our Chief Finance Officer recruitment pack.

The LIPA Multi-Academy Trust was formed in May 2022 and comprises two former Single Academy Trusts, LIPA Sixth Form College and the LIPA Primary and High School. Our mission is for our young people to have a love of learning through an inspired, creative education that raises aspirations and enriches the lives of those in the communities we serve.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced finance leader with a proven track record to control the Trust’s accounting, develop the Trust’s vision for effective financial management and support the central finance and schools/college teams ensuring compliance with statutory legal and financial regulations in addition to the Trust’s financial policies and procedures.

Aa member of the Executive Leadership Team, the CFO will have responsibility for all aspects of the LIPA MAT Trust finances. The CFO will also oversee the delivery of outsourced and partnered services including but not limited to HR, IT and Facilities Management. This is an integral role leading the finance team.

This role will be based at our offices in Federation House, central Liverpool. You will be joining our growing central team whose sole aim is to ensure that all children and students get the very best support, care and guidance that enables them to achieve their very best.

The Trust prides itself on having a working environment where everyone is valued and where opportunities and successes are shared. Our values of respect, inclusion and creativity run through everything we do. It is important that the successful candidate can lead the team with their energy, strong interpersonal skills and passion for excellence, which will require the promotion of best practice and the courage to challenge. If that is you then I encourage you to contact Mike McGibbon at Hays Senior Finance on 07730502137 or at mike.mcgibbon@hays.com for a private and confidential discussion about the opportunity.

This is an exciting time to join the trust as it continues to grow. If you are confident that you have the skills, drive and vision to make that a reality, we sincerely hope that you will apply.

OUR HERITAGE

Based on the site of the Liverpool Institute for Boys, the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, Higher Education opened its doors to its first intake of students in 1996. Its conception dates back to 1991, when Mark Featherstone-Witty – who helped set up The Brit School – started formulating plans for his next project, a university level performing arts institution.

Meanwhile, during preparations for his Liverpool Oratorio in 1992, Paul McCartney visited his old school, The Liverpool Institute for Boys.

Seeing the building’s state of disrepair – the school had closed in 1985 – Paul vowed to save it. A mutual friend, George Martin, introduces Mark to Paul. Together they start to draw up plans for the creation of The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, Higher Education, based in Paul’s old school.

Between 2014 and 2016 LIPA, established a sixth form college and a primary school with intent that its ethos and methods of teaching could be offered to students in a consistent manner throughout their education. The ‘LIPA’ Mark forms part of the names, respectively, of the LIPA Primary and High School and the LIPA Sixth Form College.

In May 2022 LIPA Multi Academy Trust was established as a separate legal entity from LIPA HE.
