The salary for this role is up to £36,310 per annum, dependent on experience and relevant qualifications.

Yes. This role operates on a hybrid model — typically 3 days on-site and 2 days remote, subject to business requirements.

A relevant degree or equivalent professional experience is preferred. APM or PRINCE2 certification is desirable but not essential.

Mechanical Design Engineer to join their expanding group. With a strong UK-wide presence, Tetra Tech delivers innovative mechanical and electrical engineering solutions across sectors such as Healthcare, Education, Commercial, and Defence. The Leicester office plays a key role in delivering technically challenging and sustainable projects across the region.


Your new role

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will support the design and delivery of building services projects, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to provide high-quality mechanical engineering solutions. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Designing mechanical systems (HVAC, public health, etc.) from concept to completion
  • Producing detailed design calculations, specifications, and technical drawings
  • Supporting senior engineers with site surveys, inspections, and construction stage duties
  • Coordinating with clients, architects, and other engineering disciplines
  • Ensuring compliance with current building regulations and sustainability standards
  • Participating in project meetings and contributing to technical discussions
  • Developing your technical skills with guidance from experienced engineers

What you'll need to succeed

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience working on mechanical building services projects within a consultancy or contractor environment
  • Familiarity with design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Hevacomp, IES, and NBS
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A proactive and solution-focused mindset
  • Full UK driving licence (preferred)
