Thank you for your interest in Gloucestershire County Council. You will be joining at a hugely important time for the county as we seek not only to maintain a strong and resilient economy but to further improve our already high education standards and general levels of health and well-being that exceed the national average.

At the same time, we are conscious that we face challenges including areas of deprivation and isolation in some areas. We are determined to ensure that all our residents have the best start in life and go on to become engaged and successful members of their community. Working with business we will ensure that the county remains an attractive place for investment, so that our economy continues to strengthen, creating more opportunities for local people. Building on our excellent partnerships, we will work across traditional boundaries to ensure that we identify the best, creative solutions to the challenges we face. Our commitment is to provide excellent services for all within the resources available to us.

Across the Council, we have reviewed how our Digital, Information and Technology services should be delivered for the future. Our Worksmarter Digital programme was established to deliver a radical redesign of how ICT services are both delivered and supported in line with the changing digital landscape. We have reached a position where we have a clear understanding of our future needs for digital solutions and technology, and of the skills, capacity and contracts required to meet those needs.

We are now embarking on ambitious change and this will require a fundamental shift in the way that services are delivered. We are looking to achieve a step change in the Council’s approach to projects and change, information management and ICT security. It is critical that we have seamless, joined up ownership and management of information, security and data across the organisations in order to achieve more effective decision making at all levels from strategic planning to day to day operation. Some of this work to achieve our digital ambition will form a second phase of our programme but right now we are focusing on our in-house ICT delivery and our outsourced contracts.

Positive Digital and ICT leadership are crucial and against this backdrop we have taken the decision to create the post of Assistant Director of Digital & ICT and the supporting Heads of Service posts. In order to deliver our vision, we are seeking leaders who can help us can develop and lead teams who are future focused, technically qualified and are passionate about delivery and giving a quality experience to customers.

This post will be at the centre of our continued development, helping us capture the opportunities available from the new model of service delivery and technology.
