About Us Block

About Us

CB3 was founded in 2020 by Iain Ballantyne, Jon Flin and Nick Flanagan with the idea of being the ‘go to’ Quantity Surveyor practice in Cambridge. Not only for their clients but also their employees.

From the start, all employees working for CB3 were to be treated with respect, they wouldn’t be just a number. Each and every employee would be appreciated and valued for who they are and what they could add to the business.

This is why CB3 gets to work on some of the most prestigious projects, not only in Cambridge but also Oxford and London. With our largest project to date costing over £500m. Our employees are our business, and their happiness is our priority.

Employee Partner Testimonials

CB3 has a modern, healthy approach to its employees work life balance, always putting their well-being first, and are a very family orientated run company.
Their flexible approach to working, has had a positive impact on our family life.
As a partner of a CB3 employee, I am regularly invited to social events and am made to feel very welcome. It’s always a pleasure to spend time with everyone.

Andrew Davies

From the moment James started at CB3, I have always been included in the social events, including Christmas Parties. This has allowed me to build relationships with James’ colleagues and their partners. I think it’s important how CB3 have a dedicated HR system that supports James both in and out of work times. More than most, I see how appreciative CB3 is of the work James does for the Company, including understanding when James may work later than the normal hours, allowing him to work flexibly and have more time for us.

Working in Cambridge

There are several reasons why living and working in Cambridge, UK, can be an excellent choice:

High quality of life: Cambridge is consistently rated as one of the best places to live in the UK. The city is relatively small, which makes it easy to get around by foot or bike, and there are plenty of green spaces, including parks and nature reserves, that provide a respite from the urban environment. Additionally, Cambridge has excellent schools, healthcare facilities, and cultural amenities, such as museums, theatres, and music venues.

Proximity to London: Cambridge is located just 50 miles north of London, making it an easy commute to the capital for work or leisure. However, many people choose to live in Cambridge and work locally, taking advantage of the high quality of life and lower cost of living compared to London.

Rich history and culture: Cambridge has a rich history and is home to one of the world's most famous universities, which dates back to the 13th century. The city is filled with beautiful architecture, including the stunning King's College Chapel and the winding River Cam, which is famous for punting. There are also numerous museums and galleries, including the Fitzwilliam Museum, which houses an impressive collection of art and antiquities.

Thriving job market: Cambridge is a hub for construction, technology and life sciences, with a high concentration of companies in these sectors. This means that there are plenty of job opportunities in these industries, which can lead to good salaries and career growth.

Diverse community: Cambridge is a diverse and multicultural city, with a vibrant student population, and people from all over the world. This creates a dynamic and inclusive atmosphere that is welcoming to all. Additionally, there are numerous community events and festivals throughout the year, celebrating different cultures and traditions.
