Welcome

Dear Candidate,

I am delighted to welcome you to the application process for the appointment of a new College Principal. Our current Principal, Mr. Mike Oliver, is stepping down from his role as of 31st August 2021, after 5 years expertly guiding the college’s improvement and level of compliance.

Brooke House College is an independent, international, fully-residential, co-educational boarding college situated in the pretty market town of Market Harborough, Leicestershire, and founded in 1967. We have capacity for 300 students NOR as registered with DfE, and accept students from the ages of 11-19. The college currently welcomes students from 62 different countries.

Brooke House College operates as a family-owned limited company. The Principal reports to the Managing Director and an Advisory Board of ‘critical friends’. The college is inspected by ISI, and is a member of the Independent Schools’ Association, the Boarding Schools’ Association, BAISIS and the Conference for Independent Further Education. The Principal represents the college in these fora.

In post the Principal is supported by a Vice-Principal (Academic), a Head of Boarding and a Senior Management Team which includes the College Bursar. He or she is responsible for the day-to-day management of the college, and has a responsibility for safeguarding the welfare of the students, and for ensuring compliance with all statutory regulations.

Brooke House despite the challenges of the recent pandemic, particularly relating to the education of children from overseas, remains a thriving educational establishment, and its Football Academy programme is one of the strongest in UK.

The ideal candidate for the role of Principal will show resilience, a strong track record in educational leadership, a good knowledge of school compliance, a well-established background in pedagogy, a passion for learning and developing the skills of young people, an appreciation of the commercial concerns which affect small and medium sized businesses, an appreciation of the UK immigration regulations as they impact upon international students and an interest in sport would be a desirable but not essential element.

We look forward to hearing further from you.

Yours Sincerely,

Giles Williams Signature
