DTS team testimonials
Since joining Birmingham City Council around 9 months ago it has been a great experience working as the Lead Asset Manager for the Asset Management Team within DTS. Everyone has been supportive on a personal level and when meeting the demands of the business. The focus on continuous improvement in ensuring security of the councils’ assets which have made my role here challenging but most importantly rewarding. I would recommend working here at BCC due to the support from fellow staff in ensuring development on a personal level but also a passion for development within the various service area(s) across the council.
BCC is a very warm and welcoming environment focused on innovation and change, with great opportunities for upskilling and working on a variety of projects with visible positive effects.
Working at Birmingham City Council has been an incredibly rewarding experience. Despite the well-publicised financial challenges, I've found a dedicated team of colleagues who are truly committed to serving the people of Birmingham. The existing staff's loyalty and resilience in the face of adversity is inspiring. There's a real sense of camaraderie here, with everyone pulling together to deliver the best services for our citizens under difficult circumstances. The financial constraints have fostered innovation and creative problem-solving, which has been exciting to be part of. While the road ahead may be challenging, I'm proud to be part of an organisation that will put its citizens first. The passion and determination of my colleagues, combined with the vibrant spirit of Birmingham itself, make this a truly special place to work. If you're looking for a role where you can truly make a difference and be part of a supportive team, BCC is the place to be.
Having spent a number of years working for blue-chip IT firms, I recently joined BCC and finding it a great place to work, exchange of ideas across various IT domains and have a freedom to express myself. One thing that attracted me to work at BCC is its ethical nature bringing value to the community we serve and support.
I joined DTS as a Capability Manager in September 2023, transitioning from nearly 15 years as an IT Operations Manager in educational settings. After recognising a role that seemed perfectly aligned with my skills and personality, I decided to make a career shift. My enthusiasm was further ignited during conversations with a team lead, whose passion and commitment to the team's mission were truly inspiring. The culture at DTS has been a refreshing departure from my previous experiences. Here, I enjoy greater autonomy, clear direction, supportive colleagues, and a leadership team that fosters continuous improvement and innovation. The collaborative spirit and professionalism of my colleagues across DTS and other directorates have made this the most enjoyable and fulfilling workplace I've ever been a part of. It's easy to see why everyone here is so dedicated to their work.
