Full-time PA role in Birmingham City Centre, long term temp assignment, ASAP start

Your new company

Due to the partnership between Hays and the Birmingham City Council we are looking for PA to join the Family & Children’s Directorate. This is a full-time temporary position with an immediately available start date.

Your new role

As a Personal Assistant, you will provide high level support to the Director of SEND & Inclusion within the Children & Families Directorate. This role also includes supporting the DfE appointed SEND Commissioner. An honorarium will be included for these additional responsibilities.
Birmingham Services for children and young people with SEND and their families has been in Statutory Intervention since November 2021, and therefore this support to the senior leaders is crucial. This role will include:
  • Complex diary management
  • Robust email management to ensure timely responses to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Forward planning to ensure the Director is appropriately briefed and prepared for meetings, including drafting and collating briefing notes and presentations.
  • Management of meetings, including preparing agendas, completing minutes and monitoring actions to ensure they are completed in a timely manner.
  • Being a confident decision maker who can maximise the time and attention of Senior Leaders by gate keeping correspondence, both internally and externally

The role will require on-site working with a minimum of 3 days in the Council House each week.

What you'll need to succeed

The successful candidate will have a wide range of experience of all aspects of personal assistant responsibilities, be adaptable and self-motivated and have experience of building effective working relationships with senior stakeholders. They will have excellent verbal and written communication skills with close attention to detail. A willingness to be flexible and good organisational skills are essential, as is experience of working within tight timescales and managing conflicting priorities. Respecting and preserving confidentiality will be key as well as the ability to thrive in a demanding, stimulating, and fast-paced environment.
