Welcome

Welcome

Dear Applicant

Thank you for the interest you have shown in leading Medeshamstede Academy. This is a fantastic opportunity for an inspirational and passionate leader to join the Greenwood Academies Trust (GAT) and to lead and develop this wonderful school.

Medeshamstede Academy is a specialist academy for pupils aged 4 to 16 diagnosed with autistic spectrum conditions and associated difficulties (ASD), rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted. Our aim is to educate our pupils in a positive, caring and secure environment which gives them access to a mainstream school experience wherever appropriate.

The school is going through a period of change. We are looking for a Principal or Executive Principal to lead it on a transformational journey in terms of curriculum/provision development, strengthening senior/middle leadership, and re-building partnerships with key stakeholders. This is an exciting time for the school, and we are looking for a motivational leader who will provide the operational and strategic leadership that will ensure the delivery of a first-class educational excellence for pupils with ASC.

The academy is one of 3 Special Academies in Greenwood Academies Trust with the others in Nottinghamshire & Northamptonshire. We have 6 mainstream primary and secondary academies in the Peterborough area near to Medeshamstede. Being part of the Trust enables us to share specialist best practice and work collaboratively with colleagues in other academies locally, regionally and nationally. The Trust provides a strong CPD offering for all staff through the Greenwood Learning Alliance along with centralised services and support to enable staff to focus on teaching. You will also benefit from the opportunities that will inevitably present themselves from being part of a developing trust.

For those candidates interesting in applying to be the Executive Principal, in addition to leading Medeshamstede Academy, overtime you will lead either another academy within the trust or support the Strategic Director of Academies (SEND) to provide school-to-school support across GAT. This would facilitate a collaborative improvement model, whereby leaders can share knowledge and expertise to meet the needs of pupils with SEND across our special and mainstream academies.

We would also welcome applications from current Headteachers/Principals of good and outstanding maintained and/or standalone specialist academies, who are looking to transfer their existing organisation into a multi-academy trust (MAT). This would facilitate the opportunity to be Executive Principal of Medeshamstede Academy alongside your current school/academy. Full written support from your governing body/board of trustees would be required on application.”

I hope you have got a sense of the ambition we have for the school and the Trust and that this is an exciting opportunity to be a part of something very special. We would be delighted for you to visit the school and that can be arranged through our recruitment advisor, Martin Blair at Hays Leadership (T: 07736791138 , E: martin.blair@hays.com) who is also available for an informal conversation about the role or discuss making an application.

I look forward to receiving your application.

Yours faithfully

Clive Lawrence
