Welcome

Dear Candidate,

Thank you for your interest in the post of Headteacher of Kingsway Park High School (KPHS).

KPHS is an 11-16 academy in the Altus Education Partnership. The Trust is seeking an exceptional individual with the vision, personality, and strategic thinking to lead one of the most highly regarded and successful schools in the borough. According to Ofsted in 2017, KPHS is a good school with ‘the capacity to go on improving’, where ‘pupils making good progress’ and have ‘above average attendance’. But the Ofsted report is only part of the story, the school is committed to developing the whole child so that they can progress onto further education and employment, and lead fulfilling, happy and productive lives. Consequently, the school has broad and balanced approach to learning that supports students develop the skills, knowledge and social skills they need to succeed. A key focus of the school in recent years has been to establish and develop significant links with the wider community.

The school is currently one of three institutions in the Trust - the others being the Edgar Wood Academy that opened as a brand new 11-16 academy in September 2021, and Rochdale Sixth Form College (TES 6th form college of the year 2021). In the next few years, it is likely that Altus will expand further and there will be exciting opportunities to work with academies in the primary and secondary phases to improve the quality of education we offer to students in the borough.

The school and Trust have a very strong educational reputation in the local community and are in a financially robust position. KPHS’ number on roll is expanding and we are currently rebuilding parts of the school estate to better accommodate our current numbers (currently around 1300).

The school has come a long way in recent years, and with the support of the Trust it has a very strong platform for continuing success at a time when many educational establishments face more significant challenges. Reporting directly to the CEO, the successful candidate will have designated autonomy and authority to lead the school and provide a rigorous, compassionate, and fulfilling education to every young person in their care.

You are very welcome to visit the school and if you feel inspired by what you have read and what you see, we would be delighted for you to submit an application. To arrange a visit, discuss the role in more detail in confidence or to make an application please contact or recruitment partner Martin Blair at Hays Leadership on 07736791138 or at martin.blair@hays.com.

We look forward to hearing from you and thank you for your interest in Kingsway Park High School and Altus Education Trust.

Richard Ronksley, CEO Altus Education Partnership

Deborah Ball, Chair of Trust Board

David Roberts, Chair of Governors, KPHS
