I am delighted that you are keen to explore our vacancy within the Facilities Management team at Cambridgeshire County Council. Facilities Management is a very diverse industry, however, managing contracts and maintaining such a wide range of portfolio buildings across a vast County can be very challenging but extremely rewarding. This role would suit an ambitious and passionate person who is wanting to further develop their career by ensuring the County Council is compliant and its staff and its customers are safe. In order to do this, the role will be managing an effective and efficient building maintenance programme across a varied corporate property portfolio, with an aim to ensure our properties are modern, fit for purpose and accessible to all.
The post holder will be responsible for all lifecycle planning and maintenance activities that requires specialist knowledge and advice on surveying our building fabric (non-M&E). Under the steer of myself as the Head of Facilities Management, you will contribute to our key strategic objectives to create a greener, fairer and more caring Cambridgeshire. You will be the main focal point on building fabric-related capital projects, from business case to practical completion as well as ensuring our business-as-usual reactive and preventative maintenance requests are managed effectively by working in close partnership with our maintenance term contractor and internal contracts manager. Projects will typically include minor alterations and dilapidation surveys, to managing much larger capital improvement programmes with a combined value of c£10m with most projects being sub c£1m. You will be responsible for the financial management of all building fabric related projects that including estimating, budgeting, cost control and project procurement to ensure the County Council meets its legal and statutory obligations.
Our ethos is one of innovation, problem solving and teamwork. This role will be largely autonomous but will be a key senior role within the Facilities Management and Property Services as a whole. We are delivering on some major projects to improve the building stock and rationalise what we have, as we progress towards a full Asset Strategy review under a Corporate Landlord Model. It is therefore an incredibly exciting time to be joining Cambridgeshire County Council, as the FM team are also a key function in helping the Council to deliver on its ambitious net zero and sustainability targets.
